HOS-ELD

There are many advantages to using a telematics system – from maximizing the utilization of your fleet to controlling and reducing maintenance costs to comply with government regulations. The latter is especially important in the US and Canada, where Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has finalized the Electronic Logging Devices regulation. While the regulation is already mandatory in the US since December 2017, Transport Canada officially announced ELD mandate to take effect by June 2021 for Canada.

Exalt solution is based on an application, compatible with any Android and Io’s device (used by the driver) that connects to the Bluetooth enabled CAN bus reader or tracking device and receives the RPM and odometer values right from the vehicle on-board computer. The information is then combined with the driver’s manually entered status changes and transmitted to the back-end. The app always reflects the remaining on-duty and driving time, so that the driver can constantly monitor his compliance. In case of a roadside inspection, electronic logs can easily be generated right on the smartphone or tablet display and shown to the inspector.

Office employees, responsible for monitoring HOS compliance of the fleet, can then log into Exalt, access the HOS app module and check the current driving statuses for all drivers, as well as find out if anyone is out of compliance or close to being out of compliance, and react accordingly. Proactive monitoring of HOS compliance can greatly improve the company's CSA scores.

With the opportunity to login from various devices the HOS solution can maintain separate logbooks for team drivers. Alerts on violations can be sent via e-mail or SMS. Additionally, information can be summarized on a daily or weekly basis with detailed information on every status change.
